NEWLANDS
Equipment operators at a mine site in Queensland had been taught not to fill a dragline bucket, but rather to pick the bucket up early and swing hard. Using equipment data and on-site knowledge of the same make and model GBI was able to demonstrate that the piece of equipment was operating at 42% below best practice productivity.

GBI worked with operators to change the bucket filling philosophy. In one month the payload increased by 30% and the resulting productivity continued to increase over time. This mine is currently 38% over its original filling capacity, saving the mine millions of dollars per year.

BOWEN BASIN
GBI has worked closely with mines in the Bowen Basin. Traditionally the dragline in this region has underperformed. Over a four year period GBI has implemented a program to bring the regions dragline in line with best practice. Results were significant with a 42% increase in dig rate, payload increase by 22% and cycle time down by 14%. The sites dragline is now operating at best practice for the make and model.
